Awakening the Passion for Love and Life!

As we wind down the Month of February 2015 here at Juniper Village of Williamstown, we are filled with joy!

We have enjoyed many wonderful events and activities embracing the "Art of Love" in all that we do, from celebrating Residents' birthdays to celebrating romance and even enjoying a great Mardi Gras Event complete with King Cake, rich pastries and a festive punch!  We celebrate "Awakening the Passion for Love and Life" that lies within each of us!

Awaken Your Inner Passion!

This month at Juniper Village of Williamstown, we are celebrating our "Alive in All Seasons" Theme of: Art-"Awaken Your Passion". We kicked off the month of February with a beautiful musical event celebrating the artistic music performance of a local artist performing a passionate tribute of romance!

In addition, we wanted to spread the "Art of Love" throughout our community this month and our residents created gifts and cards and we delivered them to very special people that serve our local community! Here you see them delivering a package to our local and favorite Mail Woman, Peggy Fox; here in Williamstown! Peggy said: "She was having a stressful day and when she received our unexpected gift of love, it changed her whole day and brought tears to her eyes. She said she brought it back to the Post Office and showed off her surprise and shared with her fellow Mail Carriers!"

We also shared a special Inter-generational arts & crafts and game day and everyone had a ball. Then our residents presented the kids with a special gift for them to take on their bus and they also were
overjoyed & totally surprised! As we continued to move forward this month we celebrated the joy and art of family! Residents and family members enjoyed chatting about their families, siblings and the passion of family and it's very important role in the community and culture!

Awaken Your Passion: February Events

This month at Juniper Village we continue our Creative Expressions Series with a focus on Art.

Creating art for many of our seniors has been a lifelong passion, for others it may have been a casual hobby or serious vocation. Whatever the reason, art has substantial benefits to our bodies, minds and spirits! In Successful Aging, John W. Rowe, MD, and Robert L. Kahn, PhD, discuss key aspects of successful aging: low risk of disease, high mental and physical functioning, and being actively engaged in life. Expressive art activities promote active engagement in life in positive, healthy, and fulfilling ways - in other words, nurturing the spirit of life. Recent studies further indicate that older adults who participate in art programs have fewer doctor visits, use less medication, and experience a lower rate of depression – all resulting in lower healthcare costs.

Our fabulous activity offerings this month include our Valentine’s Day Cookies For A Cure Pick-Up fundraiser in conjunction with The Alzheimer’s Association as we celebrate the joy of Valentine’s Day Cookie Gifts for our loved ones while at the same time raising awareness and greatly needed funds in pursuit of a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease on February 11^th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (order by February 8^th at 856-740-4444); our Community Mardi Gras Celebration Event as we celebrate with our special Mardi Gras Hurricane Punch, King Cake, Pastries and Rich Desserts, and also feature the very best of New Orleans style Jazz Artists, along with the most radiant and colorful of masks on February 17^th from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm; or our Possessing a Cardio Fit and Healthy Lifestyle workshop by Brenda Judd, P.T. of Genesis Rehab as we learn the most accurate and up to date strategies for taking care of our hearts on February 23^rd from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Look through our calendar and plan to join us this month and “Awaken Your Passion” as we explore various mediums to expression through weekly art programs and visits to local art museums. Or, if art isn’t your thing, tailgate with us during the Super Bowl, await the Ground Hog’s prediction, our join in one of our festive celebrations on Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day or Mardi Gras.
