Welcome New Beginnings: January Events

It is hard to believe how time has flown and we now, once again, welcome in a new year—2014! This January, as part of our Alive in All Seasons program we will be celebrating the magic of music. Music has long been recognized as a healing tool in the writings of Pythagoras, Aristotle and Plato. A quote by Plato helps us understand the enormity and power of music; “music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything”.

Music is indeed part of our souls, our imaginations, our lives. It is no wonder that people love music; it inspires us, sparks our minds, taps into our creativity, heals our souls, motivates us to dance, to laugh, to cry. This January we will celebrate music in all its glory!

We will be hosting several open events at our community this month. Please join us for our New Year’s Day celebration featuring sounds of the Big Bands at 2:00 pm on January 1st, our  2014 Community Kick-Off Event at 3:00 pm on January 7th, our New Beginnings 2014 Health Care Update presentation at 4:00 pm on January 15th, and our Elvis’s Birthday Bash 50’s Celebration Event at 3:00 pm on January 23rd. We encourage you to review our calendar for other offerings and attend any or all of the activities that are of interest to you.

It’s going to be another great month here at Juniper Village at Williamstown. Let us join together in music and “Welcome New Beginnings”.

Celebrate Little Things: December Events

"The more you praise and celebrate your life,

the more there is in life to celebrate" ~Oprah Winfrey

This December, as part of our Alive In All Seasons program

we will be focusing on traditions. Traditions play such an

important role within our lives by providing a shared identity

and sense of belonging, comfort and joy. Traditions allow us

to tap into our deep and rich cultural, family and religious

heritage. Our Alive In All Seasons tagline this month of

"Celebrate Little Things" reminds us that these traditions,

many of which are small, little things, can serve as the glue

that binds us together and makes our lives great.

Celebrations will be abundant this holiday season here at

Juniper Village as we share memories from our residents,

families and our associates about traditions, beliefs and

customs that have shaped our lives. We will learn about how

other cultures celebrate winter holidays, complete with the

singing of carols and the sampling of some delicious ethnic

treats.

You are cordially invited to join us in celebration for our

Annual Holiday Cocktail Event on Dec. 3rd, and to celebrate

a wonderful Holiday performance by Tom DelMoore on

Dec. 8th. Then we will host a Holiday Carol Performance

on Dec. 19th followed by a delightful old fashioned Holiday

Show with a traditional Barber Shop Quartet. We will follow

these celebrations with a most beautiful holiday concert

featuring the harp artistry of Miss Kitty Jauregui on Dec. 27th

and to conclude this exciting year of 2013, we will celebrate

with a festive New Year's Eve Concert Celebration of World

Music with Iosif Mikolko!

So, this holiday season please stop by

and celebrate with us as we

"Celebrate Little Things"

Cherishing Life & Inspiring Personal Growth At All Stages of The Journey!

This month at Juniper Village of Williamstown we are so pleased to
continue cherishing life and inspiring our residents in all that we
do! It is at the core of our "Alive In All Seasons" program that as
we participate in creating the precious moments of life, we inspire
each other, all of our residents and families to take advantage of all
of our wonderful programs to continue to enrich their lives with
personal growth!

We were treated to the beginnings of a beautiful piano performance by
one of our dear residents, who was too shy to play because she hadn't
played the piano or even touched the keys forover 20 years! After a
lot of encouragement and reassurance by her side, she finally took a
deep breath and sat at the piano and played a beautiful hymm for all
of us to enjoy! That's what it's all about here at Juniper, taking
moments of opportunity to grow as an individual and to recapture lost
dreams or dreams and passion that were put aside while we earned a
living or raised our children! Now is the time to play again!

In addition, we celebrated all of our wonderful service men and woman
with a wonderful Veterans Day Tribute, which lasted all day long! We
honored and celebrated every vet that was in our midst and prayed for
our troops and nation and vets all over the world! It was very
touching and one of our family members dropped by with a special gift
for his dad, and gave him a gift of a photo of himself in full
Military Uniform with all of his decorations! It brought him to tears
and everyone in the room!

We also honored the precious lives lived with our annual Memorial
Candle Light Service with a very special tribute to all of our
wonderful residents who have passed away during 2013! It was so
wonderful to share this beautiful evening with our Partner's in
Caring, Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice and all of our family and
friends throughout the community!

We invite you to join us as we celebrate: Family - "Cherish The
Journey" with us this month!

Halloween PARTY!!

Spooky & Groovy Times at Juniper Village of Williamstown!

This month we enjoyed many fun activities and entertained very special
guests in our community! We were treated to a really fun game day
when Rowan University Students came for the afternoon to enjoy
wonderful games and prizes with residents and families and afterwards
enjoyed fun & festive refreshments for all. As we continued with our
fun times we enjoyed many trick or treat visits from families and
friends. Many out did themselves this season with their really
creative costumes. It is said, "Never follow babies and puppies,"
because they always steal the show! Nothing could have been more true
this season. We enjoyed many wonderful visits with new babies and
puppies and lots of friends. They always held a captive
audience!!!!

Our very own "Gunner," the family dog, was very unhappy with us putting
him in a bumble bee costume for our annual Halloween Party!
Apparently he is much happier being a dog!

This year our annual community wide Halloween Party was a big success.
Residents, families, friends and pets all came decked out and ready to
P A R T Y!! Everyone had a ball, singing, dancing and even
playing banjo to wow the crowd! Trick or Treaters were in and out all
day long and our very own "Gypsy", Alice became the official candy
facilitator for the day! We had a blast and our costume winners took
home fun prizes! Even George & Martha Washington stopped by to give
their special contribution to the party and took home best family
costume prize!

We look forward to November with lots more to come! Join us through
the entire season as we celebrate Harvest 2013!

Cherish the Journey and Keep the Spirit of Family: November Events

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and, it is indeed a perfect time to celebrate with loved ones; so it is not surprising that our Alive in All Seasons focus for the month of November is families: Cherish the Journey! Matsuo Basho wrote "every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home". These beautiful words remind us of the importance of cherishing this journey of life through celebrations that bind us together; family and friends, nurturing our spirits and fulfilling us in deep and meaningful ways.

This month as we celebrate our Alive in All Seasons theme of family: "Cherish the Journey", we will be hosting many wonderful activities and events with our focus on family! We will be working with residents, families, associates and friends to create family trees and start autobiographical journals. We will enjoy rich and meaningful activities utilizing the traditions, customs and skills of many of our family members, friends and all the significant people that have impacted our lives. We will reminisce about favorite family recipes, learn about families in different cultures, and join together in giving thanks. These activities will foster the development of deep connections with one another, thus, allowing us to cherish and celebrate each others' lives. We will enjoy the opportunity to create and relish more memories of delightful moments along this beautiful journey of life together!

We invite you to join us as we celebrate the beautiful gift of family, sharing some of your time treasured stories, traditions, customs and wisdom gathered with your loved ones on your journey together! We are filled with gratitude as we give thanks for yet another year bringing joy to the lives of all those on our path! We wish all of our families and friends a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday overflowing with rich abundance! Showing Your Colors In Joy

This month at Juniper Village of Williamstown we are enjoying the beautiful colors of the season! For many of us here, it is our favorite month of the year! We kicked off the month with wonderful fun a colorful events beginning with our Red Hatter's Event. Our ladies were all decked out in their red and purple including our Queen Bee!  They all had a great time and the men joined in for the fun. They did resist putting on the red hats though! We followed up this event with a wonderful presentation by Sports Publicist, Mr. Brian Cunningham; who served for two years as a Public Relations man with the Philadelphia Eagles and other sports teams as well. Residents were really impressed with Brian's colorful presentation and many stories of his times with the Eagles and with other sports clients he has represented in his career. Everyone was glued to their seats as he told great stories about the very famous sports heroes they watch all the time. We also were treated to a very educational program on the effects and prevention of Congestive Heart Failure by: Susan Kimmins, RN with Bayada Nurses. Residents, families and community friends enjoyed this very informative presentation.

In addition, we were treated by an inter-generational "World Music" concert by a wonderful young man, Michael O. who is an up and coming musician in our local area!
