Celebrate The Arts at Williamstown!

As we kicked off the month of February we have enjoyed wonderful times of performance, artists, author's our favorite spiritual mentors and fun with our new pet, Gunner!

As you can see residents, families and friends enjoyed a wonderful story time by published author, Kathleen Lindsey; honoring Black History month! She read her new story of Mattie's Aprons and told of the beautiful tale of her husband's grandma who developed the craft of sewing apron's to help her family during hard times. Kathleen was wearing the original apron her husband's grandma made for her and gave her on her Wedding engagement. It is now over 48 years old and is more beautiful then it was when she received it, because now it has the tatter and tear of being worn with love in baking so many wonderful delights for her family and friends through the years! Kathleen has since taken on the tradition herself and crafts these aprons as well. The residents listened with intent and wore the aprons proudly. They had a ball as they learned the struggle of the culture.

As we moved along we enjoyed wonderful music with jazz artists, and learned of Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech. It was very inspiring as our residents learned of this beautiful and rich history that has given freedom to everyone. We enjoyed beautiful inspiration from our favorite spiritual mentors who encouraged us to be "our brother's keeper" as we live in community.

We also enjoyed learning together as juniper associates completed additional training in the field of Alzheimer's and Dementia care. We strive to continually increase knowledge and education for our team
and it is fun to learn and grow together! Last but definitely not least, our beautiful new pet, Gunner; is now getting really comfortable in his new home. He has a special knack for creating outbursts of laughter and loves to be right up in all the action with the residents.

We invite you to stop by and visit us as we look forward to our exciting events for the rest of the month. Above all else, we wish everyone the gift of love this month!
